Default Noob 700r4 questions

I have a 93 Z28. In the middle of heads and cam swap. I need to build the trans while it's out. What brand of trans kit should I get? I should be in the 370-380 rwph range. I got a guy at work that can build it for me.

Any links? Prices?
Also what cooler and stall should I go with? I was looking to get around a 4000 stall. It's somewhat of a budget build but I don't want junk.

Thanks!!

Get a Revmax stall, I've got a 93 z28 with the 700R4 and I just put in a 3600 from them. Hands down the best mod I've ever done, the car is a BEAST now. Unless you have some monster cam or are going to be track only, I would stick to a 3600 if I were you. I've got a big cam (CC306), makes power from about 3000-6500 and the 3600 stall is perfect.

As far as the trans build, the 700R4 if going to have almost all the same parts as any 4l60E build. The valve body is important in these since the 700R4 isn't electronic. Just don't cheap out whatever you do, and you should have a great trans that will stand up to plenty of abuse.

If you plan on nitrous or more power I like the 5 pinion planetary. If I were keeping a 700r4 in my vette it would be part of the build but T56 is needed for roadracing.

My mild build 700r4 died twice at 400rwhp both times losing 2nd gear.

How much am I looking to spend on a stall? Reason I wanted to go with the 4k is hearing some where dissappointed with the 3600. No extra power in the future, I'd like to go high 11s. I think it's doable with a good tire.

Honestly if you are pure drag racing go for the 4k, but if you DD your car or drive it a lot on the street, the 4k is going to be pretty crazy.

I just got my Revmax 3600, and I have a full 383 stroker build with a heavy cam, built trans, built rear ect. I wouldn't have gone higher. It all depends on your car. You choose your stall speed to get and keep your car in it's power range. So you you really want to be at 4000 rpm?

For a Stage 3 Revmax with any stall speed, depending on what upgrades you buy, you can expect to pay from 300-600. My car is making a little over 400rwhp NA, no nitrous or anything but I do drive it on the street alot, so I didn't need any upgrades, just a carbon fiber lockup clutch for street driving. I payed a little over $300 shipped when they were running their sale on here.

Also don't forget the higher the stall you go, if you're sticking your launches the more stress is going to be put on the drive train. Do you have a 10 bolt rear still? If so, don't expect that thing to last long leaving the line at 4k rpms with a sticky tire.
