Exclamation 4l60E no Reverse, 2nd, or Overdrive???

M buddy has a 4l60E 2wd truck and the reverse, 2nd, and overdrive gearing went out as we were pulling out of my house the other day. It didnt make any weird noises when it happened, and it had reverse going out of the driveway. It felt like something electrical (I've had the ignition switch cause similar problems) but a transmission guy said it needs a rebuild just based off of what we told him, he never actually looked at it. Is he full of it or is that the only feasible option? Thanks guys

Yep. Broken sunshell. Happens all the time. Make sure you get the beast sunshell. It's stronger and won't pop like the stock one will.

Any codes? I had a similiar problem and it was a shift solenoid, takes about 10 minutes to get the old one out and new one in. If thats it there will more than likely be a code for it

A shift solenoid code will not keep a 4L60E trans from backing up. This guy has a stripped out shell.
