Cooler line to trans fitting help. 80E I bought 1/4NPT to -6an fitting for my 80E, but the original rear fitting had the long tube attached. I do not have original cooler lines to adapt. Can anyone tell me what fittings I need? Also, I have a 60E harness, is there a cheap way of adapting it?
TCI makes the rear fitting in a -6. Also yes on the 4L60E harness, as long as it will reach the plug on the 80E.
there has been a ton of posts about this-first, the threads are not tapered pipe, they are 1/4 18 straight thread-some people will use the tapered, but its not the right thing to do
a Co. does make the correct rear fitting, #6 with the long tube-i got mine off ebay
i have taken the stock fittings, filed them down, and welded #6 steel fittings on for clearance

Maybe so, but NPT IS NO PROBLEM if you don't torque it down ungodly tight. Many th400s were the same way, and same result for the last few decades. My point is, you don't HAVE to spend a bunch of extra money (if you have the early style) if you use common sense. Now on the rear fitting (late style), I'm not gonna argue, I'd use a fitting made for it.
I agree. I'm gonna be using 1/4 NPT barbed fittings on my 80e since I can't find nps barbed fittings anywhere. But, since the OP is going through the hassle of getting a conversion fitting to change to AN hose, why not use the right thread?

To use the plug you need to switch a wire. I did this ended up having to lengthen the plug. If I had to do again I'd just buy the speartech adapter plug for the 4l80e
