Default dumb trans cooler question....

Just as the title says. I know its a dumb question but o well. Does it matter if I take the return line to the upper or lower external line on the additional cooler???? just making sure. ie... take the stock line on top of the radiator to the top line on the external cooler and then out the lower of the external to the trans???

so, you are asking if you can run just an external trans cooler and not use the stock one in the radiator?

take the stock line on top of the radiator to the BOTTOM line on the external cooler and then out the UPPER of the external to the trans
^^^if the external is laying on edge, with ports one on top and one down, if both the external ports is pointing down it does not matter or both laying flat

If you return out the bottom, the fluid could go thru the port at the top & then the fluid could go directly thru to the outlet at the bottom & never use the surface of the cooler to do the work.
If you go in thru the bottom, it will 'fill up' the cooler to allow the whole unit to do the work, & be force-fed out the top port.

That of course is dependent on the cooler type also. If it's the type with just one weaving tube & fins brazed to it, realistically the fluid would have to travel the full tube length anyway, ...

I'm not familiar with the Hayden 516, but the principal above is the reason.
