Default Technical Question

I purchased a camaro off a guy a few years ago as a project and have put off doing anything to it while i saved up the money. I have finally got the money together to finish the car completely and want to swap out transmissions. The car is 1999 SS with a t76 turbo installed. The guy i bought it from switched the transmission out to a turbo 400. This is a great transmission for the track but I would like to drive it on the street and three gears just sucks. I am wanting to buy a 4l60e and have it professionally built for this high horsepower application. The problem is I have no idea where to even start. Are all 4l60e transmissions the same? A guy i know has one out of a 98 gmc sierra i was going to buy as a core but im not sure if its compatible. Anyone with any technical help would be great. Also if anybody has a core that will bolt up to an Ls1 they want to sell here in Michigan I would be interested.

To use that transmission you have 2 options.
A. Buy a new bellhousing, torque converter, shift mechanism, tail housing, and shifter cable.
B. Run the gm spacer and buy everything else mentioned besides the bellhousing.
