Tranny problem?
If you replace the soloenoids yourself, you should also replace the fluid and filter. The solenoids have a tiny internal filter that sometimes gets clogged from dirty fluid.
Here is what 01 Slomaro is referring to: when the shifter is in [1] or [2], the trans engages the "overrun clutch" which will make things feel "normal" even if the input sprag is shot. (But WOT will then quickly wear out the overrun clutch).
A worn input sprag could give you the feeling of no power, but IMHO would not affect the upshift. This assumes that at 3000 rpm the car is moving forward at its normal speed for that RPM. However, if the engine RPM is now always much higher for a given MPH, then you likely have either too little trans fluid, a worn input sprag or a badly slipping torque converter.
If you give us more symptoms and the relationship between RPM and MPH, we might be able to help you more.
