Default trans shop rip off? or over reaction?

so i brought my th350 to a local trans shop my dad uses a lot to have it rebuilt. I could honestly do it myself (I did one in school) but wanted to be sure it was right and wouldnt have any problems. after the rebuild and shift kit (which was 125 bucks! 1st rip off!!) it came out to be 700 bucks... I could buy a brand new jegs or summit brand for 750 with shipping included. it leaked ever since I got it back out the tail shaft. thought it was the seal so when i had a drive shaft made they replaced it. it stopped for a little while and now is leaking again. brought the car to the trans guy and he says the bushing for the tailshaft is wore out. shouldnt they have replaced that with the rebuild? and now hes charging me for the part and to install it!
