I need to pull the console out of my 97 RS, but I can’t figure out how to get the leather wrapped automatic shift **** off. I’ve done several thread searches and keep coming up with nothing. Will somebody please help me get my head out of my a*s. It’s always the simple things that make the biggest head aces.

 

Pull the shifter down into low gear and take a small flat head screw driver and pry the retaining clip out on the front side of the ****. Then it should pull right off.

 

Thanks I looked for the clip before but didn't pull the shifter down and look. It's amazing what you find when you look!
