Default putting 4l60e together help

i am in the process of reassembling my 4l60e and i am having a few problems. Where the beast shell goes in i put the plastic black washer on the bottom like stock but on the inside of mine it has a roller bearing instead of the bronze one. Is this normal? Mine is a 2002 TA 4l60e and another thing is that i cannot get the snap ring on after i drop the planetary in what can i do ?? Thanks for your help

From my experience you have to have the later style hub for the forward planet that uses the torrington bearing. I believe the later model 4l60's and 4l65e uses this bearing style reaction hub. I don't have a part number for that hub. My snap ring was a little tough also but I just tapped the end of the tail shaft forward and turned it to make sure everything is seated. Gave me just enough room to get the snap ring on. Hope this helps...

As Dan said, be sure the rear of the front planet carrier is machined to accept the torrington that the late model uses. The early planet carrier can be used, but only with the bronze. The torrington is thicker and the new carrier is machined.......
