Default 4l60e trans problems

I have a 01 z28 when I got it, it shifted fine well I let it sit for about a month or 2 and now it slips a little in second but sometimes u can manual shift it and it does fine. Does anyone know what the problem could b?

Check the trans Fluid, If its low, that will cause it to slip. Hope its nothing more... I just went through a trans break down, but back up and running again.

It's full of fluid. Do u think it might need a new filter and new fluid

When you start in OD position do you think it is starting in 3nd gear and holding that gear? in other words no shifts in the OD position?

No it takes off in first and when it hit second it will bark the tires but if u hold it in second and get on it it slips

This indicates the band is slipping. Three things could cause this:
1. A worn band
2. Leaking gaskets on the 2nd gear piston in the servo
3. Low line pressure

Based on what you have said, my "guess" is a leaking gasket in the servo.
I don't know how hard (tight fit) it is to remove the servo in your car.
A local trans shop should be able to figure this out very quickly.

I put a new corvette servo in my trans and it shifts like new now thanks for the help everyone
