Default TH350 with VSS

I know there is a kit out there, but I decided to go a little out of the box with this one..

This will only work with the TH350 Longtail (9").

I got ahold of the Fitzall Spacer, part # 7Q-35B, it comes with the Spacer, Bolts, and other small pieces. Then I also got a 4-bolt 4L60E Tail Housing with small VSS..

Pictured in there also is the stock TH350 9" Tail Housing.

On the stock Output Shaft there is a bevel, I grinded that down and after some precision Dremeling I splined it and installed a T56 17x Reluctor Wheel..

Measurement from center of the VSS to the end of the Tail Housing with Spacer came out to appx 3 13/16". I installed the Reluctor with the center very close to that.

I then bolted up the Tailhousing and checked VSS clearance..

I had to Dremel down the flange on the VSS to get it within .005" of the Reluctor so it picks up the pulse. I then updated the Tune of the car to adjust for the new Reluctor Setup. Pretty much the same as a T56 car now.

So far everything works and checks out on the Transmission, and it's about $110 invested to make this work. It saves the hassle of removing the Trans and tearing it down to install the other kit.

How do you get the wheel off, will it just slide off if you tap on it? I saw some in junk yard today, but the teeth were a lot closer together, do they need to be a certain amount of teeth on the wheel?

That's an extra one from the T56's I rebuild..just set the Tune in the PCM up for it.

Necessity is the mother of invention...

A 4L60E reluctor should press fit on the 350 shaft, so I would HIGHLY suggest not butchering the output shaft like that. It makes it weaker.

Didnt have one available..so I improvised.

If I break that thing then I'm doing something right.
