Although the 4l80e and the 4l60e have the same over drive gear ratio, the lower gears are not the same. Since the 4l80e has lower 1st and 2nd gears everything else being the same my car should have a higher top end speed through 1st and 2nd ,correct ?
Once it reaches 3rd and then overdrive would the car continue to keep the top end speed gain ? or would it just come down to the same final gears still being the same and end up equal, other than car just staying out ahead keeping the distance between them ?

I thought the overdrive in the 4L80E wasn't as much as the 4L60E, resulting in a lower top speed.
4L60E 4th is 0.70:1
4L80E 4th is 0.75:1
IIRC
Edit: The lower gears are longer, i.e. 1st and 2nd will take you to a higher MPH in a 4L80E than a 4L60E (asssuming everything else stays the same)
4L60E 3.06 1.62 1.00 0.70
4L80E 2.48 1.48 1.00 0.75
4L60E 4th is 0.70:1
