Default Towing Help

I have a Stock 2007 Chevy Tahoe (I might get it tuned) with a towing package rated up to 7500lbs.

I will be towing my Camaro (3550 curb weight) behind me for 1200 miles.

Question is, I've seen guys say they've towed trailers and cars behind them for longer, and without the Tow/Haul mode on. I know that disables the OD, and they've said they get better gas mileage. Can you do tow with tow/haul mode off?

What would you do?

Tow/Haul only increases the pressure in the transmission and delays the shifts and lock-up. I would use Tow/Haul around town but once your on the Hwy it should be fine in regular mode. Unless your in a hilly area and it keeps downshifting alot then I would use Tow/Haul mode.

I have an 07 also, I only use tow haul in town, on the highway I just leave it in drive, some have told me OD is fine and just monitor the trans temp, but I'm not brave enough...don't think it mattered much draggin a car and trailer. I also pulled a 96z71 Tahoe about 100mi with tow haul on the whole way... But highway had some hills and that was about maxing out the tow rating
