Hi
Am hoping the people on here can help, Been a newbe am confused.
I am building a Offroad buggy in the uk and hoping to use a ls1 mounted to a autobox then to a lt230 or a atlas transfer box
Been in the uk the 4l80e is hard to find now I have found one on eBay but I have asked a few questions to the seller one been is the box a 4wd or a 2wd unit. Turns out it's a 2wd unit, what Would i need to change to a 4wd unit?
Am going to run a stand alone management for the box if this helps.
The box I am looking at is:-

Any advice would be great
Thanks
Russell.

Russell the output shaft is really all you would need to change in order to make this a 4wd unit. Being that this is a 97 and later unit you will need to make sure to get an output shaft without a lube hole. There is also a lube orifice on the 2wd models that you could plug with a small freeze plug if you were concerned with oil spraying into the 4WD adapter housing. Not really necessary but If I were converting a unit I would do this. HTH Vince

I use a company called WIT for some of my soft parts that I'm pretty sure has them. In order to do the job the trans does have to come completely apart due to the fact that the output shaft is the first piece to be installed into the trans.
