4l60 only has park, everything else is nuetral.. So last night a buddy and I were tweaking my 2nd-3rd shift points and took the car down the road to see if it would hit 3rd gear clean. We set the shift point at 6100 rpms and the mph @ 77 because the car has always wanted to bang the rev limiter going into 3rd gear. Take it down the road and lay into it in "D" from about 60mph, it hits 3rd clean with no issue. Turn around and put the car in "3" from about a 30 roll and do the same thing. This time it bangs the rev limiter a few times and i let out of it and bump it up to "D". Suddenly feels like the car is just in neutral, im free revving and its not moving. Pull over, look under the car for fluid and don't see a drop. Check trans fluid and its still bright red and doesn't smell burnt, levels are fine. No check engine light, no unhealthy clunks are anything that would lead me to believe i seriously damaged anything whatsoever.. The car will go into park but thats it, when you pull it into reverse it doesnt feel like anything is responding, rpms dont move, irs doesn't sit up or squat like it should, but you can push the car so i know its coming out of park. Same goes for D,3,2,1.. feels like its not engaging into any of them. Car is a 2004 GTO A4 and mods are in sig. Im completely stumped on this one..
I'm not sure. Im gonna be honest and tell you i pretty much know next to nothing about transmissions. Im just hoping it's an easier fix rather than a whole rebuild all over again.
