Default LS1 lays down in third at WOT

Not sure if this is the right spot but... My buddy took his 01 TA to the drag strip the other day. Car is pretty stock catback, lid, shift kit, lcas. The car would launch fine and shift to 2nd fine but when it shifts to 3rd it lays down. It shifts then the rpms drop to about 2k and stay there under WOT. You can let out the throttle and immediately go back to WOT and it pulls fine the rest of the way. Only happens at the 2-3 shift. Any ideas? Is this even a trans issue?

Sounds like it could be a 'lock-up' issue.
But I don't know for sure, so some else can come in & give you more info.

If you roll a sprag in the converter, it will do exactly what you described. Another possiblity is that the fuel filter is plugging up (cheap maintenance item) or the Cat over temp could be kicking in and the PCM is pooring fuel in to protect the cats. If it doesn't have cats, make sure the tuner turned the COT off.

Good luck!

Please explain this.
I have a Yank 3600 and once with me (and I think once with my daughter) the car shifted to 2nd and then would not accelerate past 3500 rpm (or so). Coasted down the track and then it was fine.
Thanks.
