Broken pan bolt
Any suggestions on how to get it out?
Thanks
At that point there should be no tension on the broken bolt segment and you might be able to unscrew it with needle nose pliers.
If not, get a high quality drill bit, like a Dewalt Cobolt bit (really way better than any other bit), a small screw extractor and some cutting oil (like Tap Magic cutting oil) . Drill into the bolt with a drill big enough for the extractor. Then insert the extractor and it should come right out.
Or, if you can find one, get a reverse direction drill bit; very likely that will take it out without an extractor.
Of course you will now have to either tap the case for the next size bolt, or use a Helicoil to fix the hole. Or hope that skipping that bolt doesn't cause a leak.
Anyone have a better method or trick?
Still assuming the pan can get off. With pan off there might be some part of the bolt sticking out. With a tool like a dremel, you should be able to make a small crack/slot in the bolt, so a flat headed screwdriver will fit in it.
The bolt shouldn't be to tight since the head is already broken off.
Might work.

Yes, I can get the pan off. The bolt is snapped clean at the case, nothing to grab hold of.
I should be able to find a bolt extractor and not have to tap to a larger size.
Anyone know what size thread are the pan bolts?
Thanks,
