Jakes T Brake
FWIW, tinkering with the transmission after you've received it, especially taking things apart to figure out how things work instantly voids the warranty. There are several internal modifications that we make as well that you wouldn't be able to see unless you took the trans apart
All in all anything from Jake's Kicks ***, but I might be biased...lol
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
I'm trying to streamline a few things like VB machining and assembly to speed us up.
We typically try to build transmissions in the order they were purchased to keep it fair.
Some specialty parts take time to get in and in some cases the parts we make in house are done in batches so we get held up.
Right now all Stage 5 builds are waiting on drums that should be done this week. A few of these I bought drums from a competitor to get them out the door this week.
Each unit is custom built and some cases we have to do custom machining to make it work. As an example we have a Stage 5 4L80E in process right now with a 2.10 gearset. This requires the reluctor/rear planet to be custom machined because the aftermarket 2.10 gearset is setup for a TH400 not a 4L80E. A small deal and normally I would just setup on a lathe and do it, however the 2.10 carrier is machined in such a way I would have to make a taper cut. The reluctor is too thin for me to machine, so I subbed the job to a CNC shop to be sure we don't damage a $1700 gearset. Lots of time involved in this one little hurdle.
Tis the way with a small business, I know, I work for one, but, would have rather been told up front its gonna be a long lead vs what I was told.
I am sure the trans will perform flawlessly, and get here at somepoint.
We also typically do a 50% deposit, I prefer to do it that way but sometimes customers want to pay all up front.
