Need help with my 4l60e
I have a 4l60e in my 01 z28 hillclimb car and its due for a new one. Is there a decent auto tranny out there under $2k I could buy that would be race ready? Or am I better off rebuilding the one I have? If its better to rebuild, what a good rebuild/ shift kit package? Thanks-ray

If you decide to build it yourself, go to: https://www.700r4l60e.com/store/home.php?cat=55 This will give you some choices as to what you might want here. The kits are very complete, and come with a free instructional DVD. Let me know if I can be of help.

This one from sponsor FLT is $1900 and one of the intermediate ones:

For a rebuild kit, also consider http://www.trutechtrans.com/.
Don't try to match up a kit on their website; instead call owner Jeff, tell him what you want and he will make a kit for you.

i would suggest performabuilt, they are very close to you in sugarloaf pa, hell you could stop by and check them out as well as chat with frank on yahoo messenger, that guy is always online and always willing to help out. I bought my trans from them over 5+years ago and just had an issue with it (turned out stupid filter fell out, was due for a filter change anyway)..

Yes, a "local" sponsor is definitely the way to go.
Like FLT and RPM, they also build excellent transmissions.
Heck, here is a thread started by someone with a 3rd-hand basic model Performabuilt who is putting down 550 rwhp in a turbo car and want to know how much higher he can go:
