Default Checking auto trans oil level? Dipstick won't release

Hi all,

I want to check my auto trans fluid level put the dipstick won't release and I don't want to pull it too hard and break something.

What are the stages please?

1. Turn engine on and drive or allow the car to warm up.

2. Pull out the dipstick and clean, reinsert to check the level?

It is the pulling out I am having trouble with, do I need to twist it or something to get the dipstick out?

It's an LS1 btw.

Thanks

Alex

Trans dip stick should have a clip that holds it in, press the tab, pull the stick.
