one cooler or two?

You can run two but you probably wont' need the second one. I run a 19000 and a 24000 to keep things cool because the Tranny Blanket does block air flow and hold heat when you're crusing in the lovely Michigan Construction traffic. 
At your combo I would simply recommend spending the extra money on a Tranny Temp guage so that you can monitor what's going on and have the peace of mind that the guage offers.

i was going to step up and go big single...but i talked to 2001-ws6 about his setup and decided to give it a whirl. so far im seeing a 15F relief. i guess it depends on the temps youre seeing now.

On my '67 I completely bypassed the radiator cooler, and I'll tell you why: the transmission fluid has to be "cooled" by a heat exchanger that usually runs 180-200 degrees. I looped the lines between two seperate coolers, and installed a Griffin aluminum radiator with no provisions for an oil cooler. The fluid goes into one Derale cooler (19000) and then passes to a B&M 24000 cooler and then back to the transmission. I used all Russell braided stainless lines (-6) and it keeps the tranny between 180-195 AT ALL TIMES! Works like a champ.
