So I'm looking at swapping a 4l80 into a 55 chevy pickup behind a 2005 5.3 L33. Engine comes with wiring harness and PCM. I'm confused as to whether or not I will need a transmission controller for this swap? It sounds like people have figured a way to run it with the PCM? Is the controller necessary?

Im doing the same. looks to be pretty straight forward with a segment swap in the PCM. The sticky has info on it. What im not sure about is if we can control the older versions <99 with the PCM?
