97 and up works best with the LS2. As for the shift kit, in our opinion the Transgo reprogramming kit works the best.

If you want to be able to use all 6 bellhousing bolts, you need a 2000-newer 7 bolt case 4L80E. Otherwise any year core will work.

My personal opinion is to avoid the TransGo kit if doing a rebuild. It's a decent kit if you are using it as a temporary setup to use a wrecking yard trans.
The multi-layer separator plate can cause issues and if you use the TransGo kit, don't use the pressure relief portion.

I designed a valve body kit for the big power applications, and in lower powered applications (750 HP less) any knowledgeable builder should be able to setup a 4L80E to work well without a valve body kit.

I agree 100%...

The pressure relief can cause all kinds of problems. Not very high quality parts, in my opinion. (That's the nice version of what I think of them...)

The '80E is pretty easy to setup to take some decent power with just careful setup, pressure and orifice sizing.

Its a 80k mile 93 model trans and i want some kind of shiftkit in it..the motor doesnt make that much power but the truck is kinda heavy and i want something i can depend on...i have two different flexplates(flat one and the one with the spacer)..but i dont know if a 4l60e flexplate will work with a 4l80e converter?
