A 3500 converter is fine with a stock engine/trans. Absolutely - lots of members here have such a combo.
However a bad converter might give such symptoms; I don't have any experience with bad converters; hopefully others can post their knowledge and experience.

Local shops will freak out when you tell them you have 3500 stall converter. They mostly have no idea of LS converter technology and what makes these cars run.
What brand is your converter? Did you buy it new or used?

Thanks for the names. I've called many shops and a few big name builders but they can't help without seeing the car.
I just got the car dropped back off at my house. What's wierd is the tow truck driver mentioned I had no reverse. But the forwards were fine. Every time I got in it, reverse was strong but I didn't have forwards... I still don't think this is converter related. I did just pick up a cheap stock one tho just in case.

Got in the car, had no movement. Added fluid, starts in 1st and reverse perfect. Just doesnt shift out of first..thoughts? I really don't think it's the converter

Deffinitely. Trans slips at anything over half throttle, so ill need to build a new one up soon. As long as I am able to drive around! Love the sound of the v8
