Default trans temp reading HIGH

i have the car in sig, and i hit the track for the first time tonight. i have a large B&M trans cooler (dont remember exactly which one) and it is mounted dope style due to Chris1313 intake. while staging the temps would get up to around 190-195 and by the end of the run my temps were around 215-220. before staging they would be around 185, and i am getting my readings from a aeroforce scan gauge.

is this normal? it was the first time for me to the track. if not normal, where shall i begin starting to look?

That's pretty normal depending on outside ambient temperature. I'm usually 190-200 at the track and I have a bigger cooler then you and a fan.

Is your external trans cooler inline with the stock trans cooler (in radiator)...? If so what is your engine coolant temp reaching up to...?

What is your trans fluid temp while driving along (say on the freeway)...?

trans cooler is not in line with stock one.

driving down the interstate with the converter locked it's around 180. i didn't know if it was normal or not. after each run id have to park the car for 30 minutes or so to let the trans temp cool down to 190 or so, so i could run again.

Which B&M cooler do you have...?

Is it the one that measures (inches) 11x8 or 11x11...? If so I would have expected 160-170 degress going along the interstate.

I ran mine inline right at first. Later I bypassed the stock unit and noticed that in general the transmission can reach the SAME max temp (190ish) but takes a heck of a lot longer to get there. The stock cooler warms up to = coolant temp which can be as high as 230+ in the cylinder head. After the transmission surpasses the coolant temp then it would act as a cooler, but by then it's too high IMO. Bypassing is the way to go for the bottom 2/3rds of the country.

14,400 BTU rated - 11"x6"x1-1/2"

i bought it new. i don't think there is a distinct inlet and outlet, so i don't know what else it would be. my fluid is full according to my Lokar stick (i imagine it would be accurate to the stock stick) im not using DEX VI though.
