Yes, at your anticipated HP, a level 5 from RPM or FLT is an excellent choice; give you long service and peace of mind.

I'm a little disappointed with FLT at teh moment. I have tried to get ahold of them about a new trans for 3 weeks straight, with no e-mail or call back. I guess if they don't want my business, I can go elsewhere.

I hope I hear from them soon, before I decide to go elsewhere.

They are always busy. Leave Chuck a voicemail and hell get back to you. there were a bunch of times Id call him and he'd call me back after they closed.

Yep.

I don't think you can go wrong with FLT or RPM. Call them and talk to Jeremy and Chuck and choose based off of that.

I run a performabuilt level 2 in my car. Have not had issues with them. Great guys to deal with. My trans did fail back in 2010. But that was due to the converter failing. They rebuilt the trans for me they had it picked up from my house and shipped out to them and it was back to me within 3 days.

Yeah, I know this one personally...

A little bit of insight for some.
A specialty shop like FLT, myself, and others often don't have dedicated sales/tech people waiting on your call. Some of the larger ones do.

If you call a large company, they have sales people. You don't typically get to talk to the guy who is building your transmission, or the guy who designed the valve body going onto your transmission, maybe not even to a savvy technician.

If FLT is anything like my shop, Chuck is the go to guy for everybody. His customer, his technicians, his vendors/suppliers, and oftentimes anybody who thinks they need to call to get a question answered about their car even if they are not a customer and it's really irrelevant to the transmission but a general car question.
"What rear gears should I put in my car?" (got that one today).

I recently quit selling parts because it is simply a monster to deal with the technical support side of it. You end up answering not only transmission build questions, but installation, tuning, engine performance, overall combo, and teaching general knowledge stuff to guys who sometimes really probably shouldn't have their hood open, many who are not even your actual customer.
I enjoy talking cars, but I also have a shop to run, transmissions to build, and customers to support and this seems to get forgotten when people call.

Leave a message and let them get back to you.

^Yup.

I emailed back and forth with Chuck today and played phone tag with him. He's a good guy. But he is the one building the transmissions. FLT has maybe 3 guys working there at any one time.

I've had as many as 10 guys working for me, I'm down to myself, 3 full time guys, a couple of part time helpers, and my office bitch (wife ). It's much easier to control quality this way.

I concur with the general consensus that RPM or FLT are the way to go.

RPM FTMFW!!!...Rodney & Jeremy are probably the nicest guys in the business, their shop is extremely clean, the transmissions and customer service are second to none. I've been down to there shop few times with my TBSS and my buddies vette, (we live in chicago near another very well known trans shop but still load up the cars and drive 3.5 hrs to indy) we usually end up staying for over an hour and talking with Rodney or Jeremy. I will definitely be back anytime i need transmission gone through.

Mike
