Good or bad or don't matter I have a bad habit of flicking my trans from drive to net. shen I coming to a stop. I just coast to the stop and put back in drive. The car can be moving when I put it back in drive. I have t/a withs tock auto. Any opinions . |
Shifting into gear when moving is bad at high speed so you have to assume there's at least a little extra wear at low speed but I don't know. You burn a little more fuel when coasting in neutral since it runs at idle pulsewidth instead of decel pulsewidth which can be as low as zero. |
Yes, with a stock or proper tune, the engine uses Zero fuel on deceleration down to about 1200 rpm. (Might be 1500 with a hot cam.) |
You will wear the selector shaft and its seal. |
Make sure you got ur foot off the gas and brake the habit. |
Thanks, will keep in gear ! |
I knew a guy who used to put the car in neutral when it was time to shift so people would think he was driving a stick. That was the least of the weird things he would do. |
