Default Stalled th350, street car questions?

I've got a 80 T/A I'm considering putting a carbed 6.0 or 5.3 in. I want to keep the th350 for simplicitys sake but I want it very streetable and not be a slouch. How driveable would a 2800 stall and a 308-323 gear be with no lock up function? I've only had manuals before. I want to keep the high gears because of no overdrive. Thanks

Should drive pretty good. With a 26" tire and a 3.23, you'd be around 2800 rpm at freeway speeds, so slippage would be minimal. I had a third gen years ago with a th350, that had a 2.73 gear and a b&m 3500 converter, and even it drove pretty "decent" around town. On the freeway the converter had a stupid amount of slippage because the gears weren't deep enough.
