Default Transmission Issues

Guys I'm looking for some help. I have a 1999 Firehawk Trans Am. A few years ago, it was having trouble up shifting in WOT. I took it into the dealership and they said it was the "exciter" wire on the alternator. They fixed the wire and everything was great.

Recently the alternator went out and I replaced it with a new one. I checked the splice job they did while installing the new alternator and everything looked fine. Now the car wont up shift or down shift correctly. Could it be the same issue? If so, why would it start doing it again after the repair?

Any ideas? In need of some good advice.

What exactly is it doing? Is it slipping a lot when up/down shifting under WOT or does it seem to hang in neutral? Is it all gears during WOT or just certain ones?

That is a pretty good fix, if they found a wire on the alternator causeing eletrical interference thus causeing a problem with shifting. Now did new problem happen immediately after the instal? If so have it checked by a chargeing system tool. I have one made by OTC that checks batterys, and chargeing systems. It will give you a ripple measurement. This ripple can cause eletronic "noise" which can in certain sercumstances cause trouble with elelectronic signals. Its just a small chance and a place to start. An auto parts place may have one you can use.
