Default 4l80e purchasing help please?

Hey, guys I used the search feature and didnt really get what I was looking for. I have seen many 4l80e trans for sale on craigs and wasnt sure what was a good deal and what wasnt. The main ones I have seen are used go for between 400-800. The cheaper ones are missing the tailshafts and I have learned its because they are former 4x4 transmissions. I am mainly trying to find out are there models or years to stay away from or things to look for in particular when buying one? Also if I buy one should I have it rebuilt or just get a shift kit for it? I know these may be noob questions but I had to ask. My application is a 69 camaro with a 6.0 lq9 block, ls6 intake, 243 heads and I havent selected a cam yet. I want between 400 hp and 450 at the rear wheels. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions or questions needed to help me. Thanks guys!

You can make any 91-2008 4L80E work for that combo, but you need to use a 2WD core. You'll probably want a short shifter shaft. You need to think about what you are doing for speedo in the car and how you're going to make the trans work with that.
There's quite a bit to take into account.

What do you mean what I am going to do for a speedo? How can I tell what it was originally? Is there a model number or identifiying markings?

If you have aftermarket gauges, then simply get an electronic speedometer and hook it up to the PCM.
However, Jake knows that many/most '69 Camaro owners want to keep the original mechanical speedometer and hooking that up to a 4L80E (or 4L60E) is a big challenge.
Tell us if you are keeping the speedometer original or going electronic.

I am going to go with dakota digital, I had always liked they're stuff. 4l60e seem to be around for the low. Are those a good option or stay away from the 60 and get the 80? What do you guys think?

Default New trans option's

I just sold the T56 out of my 03 Silverado. Was thinking of 4L80 but with the 402, might be overkill. + I had no core. I called Scoggin Dickey and grabbed a New 4L70E for $ 2041 tho had to grab a verter. They said this 70E is good to 500 ft lbs torque ? The ECM will control with Speartech's add on harness.

They also have a New 4L85E with verter they sell to go behind the 572 big block for $ 2899 with a 2400 verter.

12 mo. 12K warranty ..
