Flexplate/converter issues and possible trans build
The noise was coming from the bell housing area so I thought the converter bolts had worked loose. Pulled the starter and the converter bolts are all tight. I grab the flexplate and can rotate it 5-10* before it clunks and tries to turn the crank. It moves much more freely than when I turn over the motor by hand. Now I'm thinking either broken flexplate or loose bolts.
If it is broken I'm fearing a ballooned converter as well. I've sprayed a 150 shot for about 10 full passes on a yank 3600. It's not a nitrous converter so its a possibility right?
So now I'm going to pull the trans and see what's up. While its out I may build up the 60e. I'm wondering if this is something the DIY guy can handle with mechanical aptitude. I'd like to try it since I prefer to do all my own work and have to this point.
Any thoughts on what the issue is and what collateral damage I should be looking for? Anybody building their own 4l60e with some insight or links?
