Question I am about to give up..M6 to Auto Switch.. Help

I have about had it with my M6. This is my 6th transmission. I am seriously considering going to an automatic.

My SS: heads, cam (TSP 231/237, 598/595, 112), all the bolt ons (LS6 intake, EWP, L/T), Moser 12-bolt with 4.30s. Run ET Drags (I have 2 sets 28" and 26").

This would be for drag only.. the SS doesn't see the street much any more.

I need your help. What would I need to convert to an automatic - I would perfer manual shift? Would I really need to do anything to the PCM - considering I would be manually shift off a shift light?

Transmission: TH200, TH350, TH400? Is Rossler transmission as good as their prices?

Converter: I am thinking an SS4000 ? Yank, TCI - who is "Midwest"

Transbrake, cooler, line, links?

Shifter?

Does anyone sell a package deal? As you can tell I know jack-**** about an automatic. In fact, the only one I have ever owned is in my truck.

Thanks

David

The Grass is always greener. We have our own share of problems with our automatics.

If it's a track only car I'd definately go with a th350 or 400. My car sees more street then track and I opted to go for a TH400. I have a rossler and I'm very satisfied with it.

Rossler is very good Th400... Transbrake... Neal Chance Converter... will need 1/4 pipe - 6an fittings... steel braided line, cooler return fittings.. .trans temp gauge ( for safety sake. ) TCI SFI Flexplate ( again Safety ) as far as the PCM... manual program is much better when converting to an A3 like the Th400... also need to weld/bolt in a plate over ur 6spd shifter hole and mount a Autoshifter there, also need a dipstick... need a TQ Arm that doesnt mount to the side of the trany like a sphon... and a custom length DS... depending on how fast you run a trany/bellhousing shield

becareful launching on a transbrake on ur 12bolt posi ( if u have one, Spool much better though for transbrake )

Call Madman he has a package for th400 conversion...

and if you want to keep your speedo you will need these GM parts for the Th400, 8655291 8655315 12085498, lastly do a search on getting the MPH calibration right in the pcm... something about 2.4 i think KP mentioned

If I had a manual car I'd look into a GF5R manual.... or the g-force upgraded T56. The GF5R 5 speed is a straight cut monster capable of 1300hp..

I'm building the engine and forced induction system then build the car around that... I'm still mulling over the transmission..

I'm thinking either the all out racing manuals or one of these automatics.. The optional lock up converter has 6 clutches.

"A brand new concept for drag racing that will handle 2000 hp. You thought that the 2 speed power glide was the hot set up for your race car. We have new transmission technology that keeps on multiplying torque, where the power glide goes to sleep. We guarantee you will be ahead of the competition with this brand new 350 VR4 racing transmission, (with or without lockup converter). We have taken the turbo 350 Trans, kept the pump and stator assembly, valve body and case and have thrown the rest away. We have designed a 3 speed Trans with optional converter lockup, with all the components turning forward that will handle 2000 hp. We guarantee that it will out run your power glide race Trans."
