Default 4L80e lugging second on decel

Is this a tune or mechanical issue?

Sometimes when I slow for a red light, it likes to hold 2nd and then when it comes to a stop bogs the motor down till it shifts out of it I guess.

Sounds like tune or wiring, your TCC wire is probably staying grounded.

Ok, I will try and get some logs on HPtuners to make sure the command is being sent, then check wiring.

Just to bump this up, was researching and this came up off Jake's site

"As a byproduct of the design, it applies the low gear band quicker than the intermediate (2nd) gear clutches can release, creating a slight bind on a 2-1 downshift."

Which basically decribes what I have happen, I think. If this is normal, then, I will deal, but is there any way to avoid this?

That only applies if you are manually shifting, it does not apply to automatic shifts.
If you have an auto shift setup, you have a tuning issue or a TCC issue.
