4x4 4l80e transmission options?
I'd jump all over the RPM trans, but:
1. I believe those are 2 wheel drive versions and
2. $4k for a transmission is just too much for this project.
With that being said, I wouldn't consider myself "cheap" by any stretch of the imagination...
The Build:
81 4x4
Weight: right at 3,500 after some major weight reduction
4.56 gears in the 9" rear and in the dana 44 upfront
408 (LQ4) bottom end, L92 heads, LS3 corvette intake, 92mm cable driven TB
Cam - waiting to pick something up from Texas Speed probably.
Taking a wild guess, Ill be at 500-525 at the engine. But anything is better than the 130hp dog that was in there before... Anyway...
Will a stock, low miles 4l80e work? at least for a little while (no flooring it/ no wheeling) or will I need something built up? And if so anything out there that would be more cash sensitive to this project? I'm looking for something with great road manners (highway) that I can wheel a little bit on the weekends. Any recommendations?
