Default 4t65e-hd transmission

I have a 2006 impala ss,and purchased a transgo shift kit. I wanted to know how much it should cost to have shop install it. Kit says no need to remove trans, but one shop said they had to remove the trans and was gona be $500 to install. WTF!!!!

Just a heads up that this might be the wrong forum for your question as this forum covers rear wheel drive transmissions, not front wheel drive ones.

However, perhaps one of the pro builders here will be able to answer your question anyway.

The trans does have to come out. The valvebody is on the side of the trans and there is not enough room to pull the side cover off in the vehicle.

With the 5.3 there is no room to remove the side cover. Trans must come out, $500 sounds very reasonable for that.
