Do both and get the Trans go hd2 shift kit. The stall will make your shifts sloppy, the shift kit just tightens them back up.

Well, in short, no. I followed that same line of thinking, but the truth is, a stall and a BUILT transmission with a shift kit go hand in hand. If you can't afford to build it properly, service it and leave it alone. 2/3 of my local shops would not pull a 100k mile transmission apart and put it back together without refreshing the wearable parts. From a business point of view I can understand their line of thinking. Who knows how many parts are beyond spec and then any trans problem after that will be blamed on them. I ended up selling my shift kit and had a very competent tuner tune the trans. It was night and day difference......and the trans has 150k and in a buddy's car still behind a modded motor, behind a 3600 converter, still on the same trans tune, and still living a healthy life.

When I did my converter, I had a good amount of mileage on the stock unit and figured I might as well do it once and not have to worry about it down the line if I tore into it and did a shift kit, so I bought a new trans from FLT. I know of a few guys who run the stock trans with nothing done besides fluid/filter changes and they are fine behind 400hp cars.

Keep your transmission cool and maintain it and it should be good.
