4L60E broken
1. Remove driveshaft.
2. Remove starter (may need to remove header and/or part of exhaust too.)
3. Remove the three torque converter bolts.
4. Remove the upper bolts (as above) and the lower bolts.
5. Only loosed the 4 bolts at 9:00 and 3:00, but loose enough for 1/8" play.
6. The trans is still connected with 2 dowels; with corrosion they can be very difficult to loosen. Wiggle the tailshaft to loosed the dowels, persuasion may be needed; the 4 loose bolts will prevent the trans from falling while you loosen the dowels.
7. Remove the last 4 bolts and slide the trans back and off.
first time ever doing it took me about 1.5 hours. pull the driveshaft, drop the exhaust, pull the starter, pull the bolts for the flexplate/converter, drop the crossmember while supporting the trans with a jack and pull the bellhousing bolts. i'll try and find the writeup.
