Jakes transmissions is one of the best shops I've ever heard of!!!

 

I like many, have heard of the stories out there regarding Maddog's transmissions.

Last year I was fortunate to pick up one of his TH400's units for my TT 2004 GTO. I did not pay a dime for this unit because I won a contest he put on for the community last year. It's the only thing I've ever won in my life!
Although I did not get to put this transmission through a long and serious punishment, I did put several good miles on it and was very happy with everything Lou said it would do. I was able to put it on the Dyno while tuning the GTO and pulled 880 HP out of it before punching a hole in my number 7 Cylinder. (Hydro lock had nothing to do with Trans.) No issues with the trans still and I plan to continue using it for my next build.
Lou was very friendly to deal with and kept me up to speed with everything while they we're building this TH400 unit. If and when I need a new transmission for any of my vehicles, Lou will be the one who gets my business. He's Far Exceeded my expectations through the process. And all of this was absolutely FREE to me. Cost NOTHING out of my pocket. However, Lou did in fact pay for EVERYTHING including shipping.

give him a chance to build your next unit. He's working hard to earn our business. And if for some reason there are any issues, he'll make it right.

Please listen to me when I tell you to NOT buy anything from Lou. I started with a Level 4 60 and 4 transmissions later I had missed the year of racing. We even agreed
to swap the last 60 I sent back for a TH400 and this one was taken to a local shop and thank God I did. The trans had none of the mentioned performance parts and would have failed just like the others. I hope all who have been wronged by Lou, Elliot and comp will come forward. If Lou gets on here and says anything I have a complete history of his attempts to open up new shops in other states. He has been reported to the BBB in every town he's setup in. Lies after lies and shipping charges after shipping charges. I honestly do not believe they have anyone who can build a good transmission. I have a story to tell, please my fellow gearheads - stay away from this guy.

 

Never bought from Mad Dog but, my friend has when he lived in the Atlanta area. I've read the reviews from time to time over a few years. My Buddy put a 4L60 from Lou in his 4x4 for the obvious reason. He bought without reading any forum and has beat the crap out it for two years all the while pulling a boat to the local lake couple of times a week. Now that he is local to me, I ride with him a lot(with the pedal on the mat everywhere) and he says it works like the day he had it installed and it does shift well for having 36" tires and hard *** miles. Having some Jack *** in the shop not doing the job they're are being paid to do will ruin any builder on this site. If I had to speculate, that's what has happened to Lou. Hard, uphill battle to win on getting trust back. I've read lately, good communication, good pricing and product, while backing the work. Time will tell. No, Lou has not sold anything to me. Just observation here.
