Default 4l60e rebuild help needed

This is the first time I have tried to rebuild a transmission so please bear with me.
The rebuild kit I purchased is requiring more clutches and steels ( included in the kit I purchased) installed to reach the required clearances. Is this ok? Did I order the wrong kit? ( I have a 99 suburban and I told the parts supplier what I had when I ordered the kit.) Can I use the extra clutches and steels ?
Thanx in advance!

First by "clutches" you mean frictions.
For which clutches (forward, overrun, 3/4) do you have more frictions and steels?
7 frictions and 6 steels for the 3/4 clutch is "stock" for the 4L65E and a worthwhile improvement for any 4L60E.
The forward clutch should have 5 frictions and 5 steels.

What book(s) or references are you using for your rebuild?
