Yank or circle d that is the question So I'm about ready to order my stall but am unsure on who/what to go with. Yank or circle d? I wanna hear back from people running any of either brands converters. I'm mostly interested in hearing how many miles people have put on them and what kind of miles they were. Dding, wot track passes, weekend warrior. I think that both company's produce a nice piece and will boil down to price point + long term reliability for me. My car is not a dd but is not track only car either. It's between a country side carver (i love hitting some hard corners) and weekend warrior so it will see more long hard drives then wot track passes

I run a Circle D and love it. 
On a serious note, we have incorporated lots of upgrades in our converters that make them one of the most durable on the market. We use industry standard parts like high quality torrington style bearings, sonnax hd hubs, and quality furnace brazed pumps and turbines, but we also have a few special Circle D only features:
*Deep groove ball bearing in the front cover vs floating the turbine hub
*Deeper converter pad for more strength and thread engagement on your converter bolts
*Hand TIG welding where necessary on pumps and turbines.
*Custom billet turbine hubs for wear resistance and quality fit
*Exclusive high carbon single and multi disk clutches for long life and great lockup.

I run a yank ss3600 in my car and I like it for how I use my car. I used to dd the car with it and never had any problems what so ever. With my cam and 3.73s I think its a great street converter that can do well at the track.
They are both quality converters from good companies. My guess is if you get a similar unit from either you would never be able to tell the difference.

I have a Yank SS3600 which is surprisingly tight for a 3600 stall. Due to the daily detailed support that Circle D gives here (via Chris and now Brian) I will get my next converter from them, probably a triple disk 3200.
In short, you cannot go wrong with either. Dave at Yank has give me and his customers excellent support too; he just doesn't participate on the forum.
IMHO, a mistake would be buying one of the cheaper TCI.

I ran a Yank ss3600 for 3 years 30k+ miles and many track passes. It was good enough to get my car 11.9 stock internal, 10.9 as the car sits now with a 1.5 60' best. But, my trans went down hill and I am now questioning the lock up clutch on the converter. Dave@Yank is great to work with and he's a very busy guy so I can see why its tough to be on the forum.
This time around I'm going with a Circle-D. Brian@Circle-D was awesome answering my never ending questions (I'm one of those customers who analyze parts to death LOL) and helped with great technical info to help me decide. I went with a 1E 4K converter for my new FLT4 trans. This converter should give a little more performance than my last. The car will be done soon so lets just say I'm pretty damn excited right now!!!
This time around I'm going with a Circle-D. I have never ran a Circle D so I can not offer my opinion on that.
I have had a Yank SS3600 and loved it. My T/A will be getting a Yank SS as well. I have a buddy who runs nothing but yank converters and has one in his boosted LS1. The car has been impressive so far.

It's no surprise that I am a Circle D Specialties fan. I have ran various brands of converters over the years and Circle D is the only converter builder for me. The over all quality, attention to detail and continuous R&D they put into their converters sets them above the rest. Their customer service is also the best in the industry.
I ran both, as a weekend car. Started with a yankSS3600 but I'm probably the only one that felt it was too loose for me. So I went with a circle-D 3200, and now i am completely satisfied with them! It has great street manners and flashes quickly when you get on it. I'm glad I made the switch. Had I upgraded to 3.73's, it would probably be a different story.
Had a SS3600 and it was a nice tight dd converter. Decided to switch to a Circle D 2E stall but haven't installed it yet. You can't go wrong with either company, I liked how thorough Chris was and he even checked up on me after to see how I liked it but I told him it would be a while before I got it installed.
I had a circle D 5c which is a 4k stall. It drove amazing. Performance is ridiculous. Quality and finish is ridiculous...
I ended up getting another 5c. When i received it, the packaging, quality was just as good as my first one.
Id go Circle D all day!!!

My Yank SS3600 was MUCH tighter than the 3200 TCI I had, but I still find it too loose for daily driving. (Rear is 3.42). Great to know that the 3200 Circle-D feels tighter to you.

I have been running Circle D for over a year and over 20k miles now as my DD. 
I have had it freshened up after my transmission replacement and their fast turn around and great customer service will keep me going back. They are great!!
