Default Gains from Vig 3200?

I was just wondering what kind of gains i could possibly see from a Vigilante 3200 stall converter if i am currently running 12.7's?

Also which other converter would be recommended from TCI or yank? and what will be the best converter brand to keep almost the stock feel and still be as streetable as possible?

My camaro is my every day driver so i am a little nervous to put a converter in.. What about going into reverse? will i have to rev it to 3600 to make it move? Also won't a converter make it more likely for parts to break on my car? Or can the LS1's stand up to them well? If you could help at all i'd really appreciate it! Thanks

A Vigilante 3200 with a good set of tires should be worth around .4 to .6 off you're ET. It's a very streetable converter. I'm running a TCI SSF 3500 and it's very streetable.

Yea i have some pretty decent tires i'm about to throw on... I have 315/35/17 BFG g-force KD's... Do you think those will be good enough to hook with that converter? and what about going in reverse and stuff with the converter? does it rev to like 3600 to move it in reverse? or does it move but is really loose?

Does having the 3200 Vig add a lot of stress on the rest of the car? or does it seem like it takes the beating pretty well? I have a transgo shift kit, B&M tranny cooler, STB and SFC's to stiffen up the car a bit.. But is there anything else i might need for it? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I went from 12.86 to 12.14 with my Vig3200.
I have 2.73 gears and my car is still daily driven with this converter, not bad for driving at all.

ehhh i dont think thats gonna be enough....even though thats a lot of tire, i really think you're going to need at least drag radials to hook the car up with that converter. going in reverse will feel just like going in a forward gear...it will be a little loose, but not terrible. my car shifts at about 2600-2700 rpm when driving normally in stop and go. it will still creep off idle and 1200 rpm is enough to move it around...its a pretty streetable converter.

You do not have to rev the engine to 3600 RPM to move it, not even close. I just drove a trans am with a TCI 3500 and it would roll at an idle. give it just a little bit of gas, around 2000-2400 RPM it would start taking off hard. I liked it so much I am now buying one for my car!!! there is a GP going on so check that out.

Alright i'm glad to hear that they are so driveable/streetable.. i was just afraid of always having to rev it too high.. But you really think that the 315/35/17 BFG g-force KD's will be enough? That seems like a lot and thats one of the best g-force tires out.. I was pulling a 1.9 60 ft time with the 275 KDW's when i was almost stock.. so i figured the KD's would be good at 315 wide.. Any opinions on my tires? Thanks for all the replies guys

For traction at the dragstrip with a converter, you need drag radials.
Get yourself a pair of 315/35-17 Nitto 555Rs and you'll be set
Nittos are great on the street too, but they are a drag radial, so you'd only get 8-10k miles out of them.

yep....street tires no matter how wide, just wont cut it with a stall...

BTW: i have about 12,000 miles, 50 track passes and about 10 or 20 street races (with burnouts) on my 275/40/17 Nittos....they aren't spent yet!

Alright... thats too bad because i just bought a brand new set of those g-force KD tires..I'll have to get some Nittos for the track... are the KD's even good for the street at all or no? How much will a set of those Nitto drag radials run me? The 555r's? Where did you guys get yours? Discount or some other outlet? Thanks for the advise on the tires!

Same here Nittos if you want a prayer. Great tire
my car was slower but still got the gain with vig 3200 13.2 - 12.8
mph stayed 106 indicating no loss from slippage.
Street manners are better than stock and not all loose like your worried. If you're going that fast without it - get it

I think you will be happy with how easily you can drive everyday with that convertor.
The first convertor i had was the Vig 3600 and even that was not issues with daily driving.
Now i have the Yank SS4000 and love it. Trust me (and the others that posted) street tires are not going to hold traction with even the smallest of aftermarket convertors.
No worries with Nittos though. I have run BFG and Nittos, both 275/40 and 315/35 sizes and seem to get around 15000 miles out of them no matter how i try and punish them, lol.
At the track i can not get a real hard launch on drag radials ,but that has a lot to do with my Yank SS4000 vertor and stock lca's. I even spun hard with E/T streets my last time at the track.
Good luck and enjoy your convertor, might be the best mod you ever have done to an A4 LS1. Well, right next to the bottle, that is.
