Default What tranny to go to from manual

Guy's, I need help on what to pick. I want to get rid of my manual and go to a auto because I run the car at the track. The car makes about 500 HP to the wheels and in the future I want about 750 to the wheels. Do I need to change the computer if i go to a late modal tranny and will the drive shaft need to be shortened? Thanks Guy's Ken

At 750HP I would recommend a 4L80E. Your computer will not need to change, but will need a "segment swap" to support an automatic. You will need to add a trans harness from the computer to the trans. I think Speartech makes one.
I would highly recommend getting a new custom driveshaft made as you need quality u-joints and slip yoke to handle 750HP and fit the 4L80E. I most recently used shaftmasters.com. IIRC it was $350 for a aluminum one that handles 3000 ft/lbs.
