Default Park and reverse issues 4l60e

I recently stared having issues with my 00 a4 z28. When I put it in park it's like it's still in neutral and also have no reverse .drive shifts fine thru all gears and if I play around with the shifter enough I can get reverse also shifter feels different in park and reverse as well. Any ideas

This is almost certainly a shifter or shift-cable problem.

I adjusted the cable it goes into reverse fine but when I put in park I really have to use force and I can pull it right out of park without using button with little force . Indicator on shifter seems to be off too. Wondering if shifter if wore out or if cable is. Cable seems fine but I don't know for sure .

It's going to be the cable bud, most likely right at the hold down bracket near the oil pan. Sometimes the plastic tabs that hold the cable to the bracket get worn and won't hold the cable in place securely.. lift the car and have someone shift the car back and forth from neutral to park while u watch.. I had this same problem on my ws6.

Exactly what 7beast said. My tabs broke and currently have a couple zip ties holding it in place. On a spare trans i have someone sunk a screw into it to hold it in place
