Default Car won't take off after cam

i just installed a cam in my car (221/221 .558 112 lsa) and when driving like around 40 mph i punch it all the way and the car won't take off,it just accelerates a little, sometimes even going at a slower speed. Is it because i have the stock torque converter?I already bought a vig3200 but have not received it.My mods are in sig.So do you think is the stock TC?

Kicking down - as in downshifting. If you smash the accelerator the tranny should shift down to the appropriate gear. I think your car probably downshifts fine, the problem is 40mph is bad for your setup. Since you have an SS (same as me) you should have a 3.23 rear end. With this combo, 40mph is about the worst speed you can nail it. The car will shift down to second, but the car will be in sort of a dead zone. 40mph is too fast for it to shift to first so instead it shifts to second, but this is the very bottom of second gear. Engine rpms and thus HP are low, and car feels like a dog... Punch it from 25-30 and it will downshift to first and haul ***. Punch it from 60-65 and it will downshift to 2nd and haul ***. An aftermarker converter will cure these problems.

Bottom line - put the converter in and life will be good!
