Default 6L80E install - anything specific about converter/alignment?

I'm putting an LS drivetrain out of a 2009 pickup into a 1988 Jeep Wagoneer. I've got the engine set, and now I need to get the transmission installed/mocked up.

When I pulled the transmission, I separated just the bellhousing and left the Torque Converter on the flexplate. So, as of right now, the TC is still on the engine.

I need to remove it, put it in the transmission, and install the trans/TC.

I've never messed with a 6L80E up until this point. Is there anything specific about these transmissions that would make them any different than a typical Auto/TC installation? How many 'clicks' should I hear when installing the TC?

Any information is appreciated.

Shawn

We've never messed with the 6L80E transmission itself, built we do and have built converters for them. Nothing out of the ordinary.

You should never listen for how many "clicks" you have. That is deceptive. ALWAYS measure pad to face distance

Is there a known pad to face measurement for the 6L80? I was just reading the specs for the 4L and 400, but can't find the 6L80 specs.

Thanks for the info.

Measuring from the bell housing to the converter pad, you should have over an inch. If less than an inch, it's not stabbed all the way, and you will have issues.

Want to correct myself here, I should have looked at my own first post to remind myself of what we're speaking about here. pad to bell should be just over an inch, pad to [/i]flexplate[/i] should be the aforementioned measurements
