TH400 converter "is it in yet?"
TH400 converter "is it in yet?" Putting my new aftermarket converter on my race built TH400. The spec for converter pad to bellhousing is 1.187" but I'm seeing 1.06" or 1 1/16.
According to directions there is a tolerance for +/- .050 but I'm still out from that. I've tried removing it and installing, spinning all around and sliding in and out etc. lined the pump tangs up at 12 and 6, but this is as far in as I can get it.
Is it in all the way?

Anything over an inch usually means you are fully stabbed. Measure the flexplate to the block and see what you get. Typically .850-.900 range, giving you the converter clearance you need.
