Lock up converter on street....
Hi,
Going from a manual valve body th-350 with a 4300 stall to a 4l80e, in my 72 Chevelle (full weight).
I had no problems with overheating and I drove it all the time, even in Texas summer heat.
When I have a lock up converter built, can I go with a higher stall? Since it locks up on the highway, won't it theoretically run cooler than my old set-up?

My old set up consisted of:
383 sbc/Iron eagle 215's/custom solid roller cam (300-ish adv. dur)/Super victor intake/850 d.p./ 1 3/4" long tube headers
Th350/reverse man. v-body/9 1/2" converter loosened up to the max
12 bolt with 4.10

Right now i'm converting to a gen-III 6.0L and 4l80e. Starting off its just going to be a stock lq9 and trans/converter.
Once all the infrastructure is in place and working, i'll start modifying and building power. It will be mostly street driven and raced every once in a while.
My definition of streetable is "how much can I push the envelope and still be able to jump in and drive it anywhere"

OK, depends on cam specs and a few other variables, but we can do a 4K range and you will be fine on the street. Send us an "Ask Chris" with your full specs and we can help you select the best converter. Link is in sig...
