Question converter with t-rex cam?

thunder racing suggested going with a yank pro thrust 4400 with their t-rex cam. i talked to a couple guys at a local speed shop and they're saying the 4400 is gonna be hugely terrible and a waste of $$ this is gonna be my seasonal, somewhat daily driver, so i do need somethin for the street but i want something to match up with the cam and somethin to give it that kick in the pants. so if anybody has an auto and a t-rex cam what kinda converters are you guys runnin and how is it on the streets? thanks a ton everyone, and any kinda help would be greatly appreciated.

Damn. If it's gonna be your daily driver. GOODLUCK,the 4400 stall and t-rex is gonna be one hell of a machine at the track, but for the street, thats just insane. You're gas mileage will most likely drop tremendously. Not really sure what stall you should get. I love my 3200, but that might be a little to small in your case. Peace

thanks brent. yeah everyone's been tellin me how monsterous this thing's gonna be. but then again, a couple people have had t-rex cams in a streeter and they said "it's more of a gentleman on the street than many of you would think" so i'm gonna see how it turns out, i'll sacrifice the smoothness of my ride for that extra mustang killin fun.

The Yank PT4400 is an excellent choice IMO. I would be more worried about the streetability with that size cam than with a high stall converter. Converters don't make your car surge and die at lights and not want to idle (drill TB hole) like a monster cam does, trust me I know. I had a 4200 and then the 4400 converters in my car before I did my H/C setup. Your setup should be running excellent at the track if you can hook it and if the car isn't too heavy

I was debating myself on either the 4200 or 4400 for my 3220lb. s-10 with the 6.0l and t-rex. I am leaning twords the 4400 though. What kind of gear are you runnin and whats your race wieght? The converter and cam will be Ok on the street its a matter of the person driving...some will think its a awesome setup for a daily driver and some will think it sucks to drive. I am the type that can live with anything that makes big power, you learn to live with it and love it at the same time.

I am using a midwest 4400 2.5 str in my trex setup. This was my daily driver and drove great. I dont know why people complain about how big this cam is and how loose a converter is. Hell i still have stock gears and mine was awesome. I ran a best of 7.32 n/a like this with only headers and ls6 intake and a cutout

Dont go to a speed shop and listen to them most of them are old school and when you tell them stuff like this they just dont understand. Get the 4400.

thanks guys, yeah i already have the yank on the way so that's good to hear so many people like the setup. oh, and i figured thunder racing would have a bit better knowledge than a speed shop, considering how many of these installs they've done, and the fact it's their cam too. appreciate all the help everyone!

That is a sweet setup, when will you have track results? Feel the same way you do about the driveability stuff.

I hope fore the end of the summer, the motor still isn't in the truck but the 4.3l is out. Its a 2001 reg. cab shorty black s-10. It only has 19,000mi on it too.lol. I will definatly be runnin it at the track when completed. It might be next spring if funds don't pick up. Here is a link to my truck pics and info of the 4.3l http://www.dragtruck.com/ENTRIES/1HAWN9OBK8RG.html
Should be fun!
