Default torque converter issue

Hey guys, having a slight fear my torque convertor may be on its way out.

When the convertor locks up and I'm slightly on the throttle or just idling at a higher speed (50) I feel a slight lugging or jerking in the car. First stalled auto car I've owned but I know the concept of a triple disc lockup, it doesn't feel normal at all. Any ideas or places to start?

Do you have a cam in the car?
If yes, this sounds normal. In many cam'ed cars you need to increase the lockup speed to prevent the lugging.

Yes, determine at what RPM the engine stops lugging and set the lockup speed to that or a bit above. Obviously you need tuning software or have a tuner do this for you.

I believe I had a stock tune on my car when I got it. It did have a stall convertor put in right before I bought the car.

It did need some tuning to fix all the stall convertor "side effects". I had to raise my overdrive lockup from 45mph to 55mph. Even with stock 2.73 gears and stock cam locking up at 45mph caused some issue. I raised it to 55. made a world of difference.
