Default 2001 vs 2004 4L80 compatability

Title sort of states it but to clarify.

I have an LQ4 from a 2004 Silverado 2500 that I swapped into my old Land Cruiser with a manual transmission.

For various reasons, I'm looking to swap back to a 4L80 that the engine came with originally.

I've got a lead on a 4L80 from a 2001 but it isn't clear whether it is compatible.

From my reading, 2004+ are different than 2000 to 2003 version. According to Jake's Performance, the 2004+ had "some slight valve body changes and another EPC change". EPC = electronic pressure control.

Will these changes prevent me from using it? I was planning on having it rebuilt.

They are slightly different in the way the fluid path flows through the trans. The rebuild kit is late model specific mainly for the bushings. The tailshaft bushing has a slightly larger od than the earlier years. The harness has a different connector at the end that fits one of the solenoids in the pan but the input connector on the harness is the same. It should work.

Thank you for the reply.

It is good to hear that the external connection is the same.

My concern now is the one solenoid with a different connector. Will a 2004 tune "drive" it correctly or will it not work.

Im almost certain it will. The only diff I could tell between them is the connector plug is a lil different. It is still a two wire hookup on the solenoid. Im thinking it was the tcc lockup that had the different connector. It was just enough to tell a diff in year models between them.
